External Wall Insulation & Solar PV Panels

“Everybody’s concerned about the cost of energy. It just keeps going up and you always need the heating on. The improvements were outlined and everything was explained very well. It was a genuine service that could help.”

Living in East Leake, Nottinghamshire for 40 years, Mr and Mrs J’s hard-to-treat steel-framed property was notorious for letting the cold in.

With energy costs skyrocketing it was becoming increasingly expensive to heat their home during the Winter. Concerned about rising bills, they felt that it was time to make a change and got in touch with NEP about their Green Grants scheme - a government funded scheme in which NEP delivered customer support, to ensure that hard-to-heat households across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire received home energy improvements.

Mr and Mrs J received free External Wall Insulation and Solar PV Panels, with NEP ensuring that their home was well insulated prior to installing low carbon heating systems, saving £905 a year on their energy bills.

NEP streamlined Mr and Mr J’s retrofit journey through the trusted installer Thrift Energy. Mr and Mrs J told us, “Mrs & Mrs J received free EWI and Solar PV, meaning that they saved £21,000 on installation costs and could start saving £905 a year on their energy bills. “

Mr J was very pleased with the service, telling us that he has “no complaints at all.” Highlighting how the install team took into consideration his work pattern, he told us: “They were always tough on that. I work nights so the noise was kept to a minimum during the day. Everything was always cleaned up so there was never a mess to come home to.”

“There is a definite difference. When the heating goes off, I find that the house stays warmer for longer.”

After the improvements, Mr & Mrs J have noticed a difference both in savings and in the day-to-day experience of living in their home. The retrofit changes on their home were worthwhile and have got them on track for a home that is fit for the future.
