Home Energy Plan & Solar Panels Installation

“I was happy with the assessor as he explained well what needed to be done, and he knew what he was doing.”

Mrs M lives in a 1950s detached house in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire. The property received an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C, implying that it is more efficient than most houses in the area. The building features filled cavity walls with partial render, double-glazed windows, and an insulated loft, as well as a garage and two modern rear extensions.

Despite these measures, it still generates high carbon emissions and incurs significant energy costs year-round.

Recommended Measures

Mrs M wanted to confidently install solar panels, which led her to seek recommendations from HEAT Hub. She received a Future Fit Home Energy Plan (FFHEP), tailored to her home with the step-by-step improvements to make improve its energy performance.

The plan is a fairly unique offer and free of charge.

Post Installation: Mrs M’s Solar Panels

A retrofit assessment was undertaken to obtain a condition report. Mrs M said: “I was happy with the assessor as he explained well what needed to be done and knew what he was doing.” A 10-panel solar array with 4.25kWp was recommended for her South-West facing roof, potentially reducing carbon emissions by 21.5%, as well as her energy bills.

Other recommendations included: insulating extension walls, floors, and upgrading heating and ventilation systems

Outcomes

Together, these measures could raise the property’s EPC rating to band B and reduce energy usage by 76%. This information, provided in her FFHEP, has urged Mrs M to consider switching to an air source heat pump in the future. She has however, stated that she will only go forward with this once her current combi-boiler is broken or faulty.

After being referred to one of our trusted installers (T4 Sustainability), Mrs M obtained a quote and was happy to go ahead with the installation of the solar panels.
