What Can Increase Retrofit in Hard to Treat Old Homes: A Case Study - Webinar In Partnership with HVCA

Join the H.E.A.T Hub and Hope Valley Climate Action to learn how we’re tackling the challenges of retrofitting older, hard-to-treat homes and championing the importance of retrofit for a low-carbon future.

Retrofitting older homes is never straightforward, particularly where planning restrictions apply, such as in the Peak District National Park or to listed buildings. These barriers mean that, until now, only a small number of committed climate pioneers have attempted to undertake this work.

The Home Energy Advice Team (H.E.A.T) Hub project is addressing these challenges by providing impartial, in-person energy advice to help make retrofit more achievable. During its first phase, the government-funded Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) project was delivered over two years by Nottingham Energy Partnership (NEP) in collaboration with Marches Energy Agency. Thanks to new funding, the project will now continue for a further two years, with NEP taking the lead in expanding its work to homeowners and landlords across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

The H.E.A.T Hub’s in-person services include free energy advice workshops and events, access to a list of trusted installers and free whole house energy surveys for “hard to treat” older homes. Join us to hear what it has delivered so far and what’s planned next.

We are delighted to welcome Miranda Cumberbatch, the CEO at Nottingham Energy Partnership, who wrote the grant application for the project, to come and tell us about its achievements, key lessons learned, and insights into improving energy efficiency in hard-to-treat Derbyshire homes. She will also outline plans for the coming year, what the HEAT Hub aims to achieve across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, and the project’s wider impact.

Plus, there will be time to ask any questions that you may have!

Is this a model that can scale retrofit beyond a small group of climate pioneers? Come and find out.
